The wheel: InMotion V11Y
I ride an InMotion V11Y. It's the wheel in my videos and the one I test SpeedCam on.
Check the manufacturer's page for current specs, prices, and availability. They change.
Protective gear
On one wheel, falls happen, mostly while learning. Wear this every ride, not just while you're new:
- Helmet. Full-face or a certified multi-sport helmet. This one is not optional.
- Wrist guards. Hands are the first thing that hits the ground.
- Knee and elbow pads. Cheap insurance for the most common falls.
- Gloves and sturdy shoes. Flat-soled shoes with grip help you stay on the pedals.
Lights and visibility
Ride with a headlight and a tail light, and wear something bright or reflective for night riding. Most wheels include lights, but check that yours are visible from the side too.
Phone mount
For recording with SpeedCam, use a secure mount on your chest, helmet, or handlebar if you also ride a bike. Check the mount before every ride so your phone doesn't end up on the road.
